9th November – Darwin

Heading to Litchfield tomorrow, so need to find something a lot less expensive to do today.  First up, hitting the shopping centre!

…Bear with me, it makes sense.  I’d spotted a book exchange in town earlier that week, and figured I’d trade my current paperback for another.  I also needed to look around for a linen shirt for Alice Springs.  I failed at this, but did manage to trade ‘I am Pilgrim’ for one of the Dresden Files books.

However, I had to flee back to my hostel after that, because it was UNBEARABLY hot and humid.  It wasn’t even 10am and it was already painful.  It was all I could do to run back into air conditioning and weigh my options on leaving.  Eventually though, I figured it would be worth the 20 minutes walk if it meant I could get to the harbour and water.

…That was the longest 20 minutes you can imagine…

But, water!  Beach!  Cooling off and reducing the shade of my hair yet again!  Sadly, the water wasn’t nearly as cool as I’d hoped (unless you dived under, but its saltwater and that becomes painful after a while).  Spent a good length of time just floating on the water, until the life saving course started and everyone had to stay in the shallows out of the way.

When I finally headed back, I decided to make sure my washing and bag were packed – since tomorrow would have me busy all day and probably in no mood to do it.  As it was getting it done today was a pain as I was exhausted from the beach!  Least it’s done and I don’t have to worry about it now.

About Batale

I am an aspiring writer - though since I haven't written anything original in about 2 years, so calling me a writer is like calling a man who makes dinner every night a 5 star chef. I started this blog to force me to write. From the 1st January 2013, I intend to update this blog every day. If nothing interesting happens, I'll write about something that does interest me, whether that is a movie, a book, something I've heard about, or even some of my stories growing up.
